Indigenous Initiatives Office (IIO) hosts inaugural Medicine Garden harvest

Earlier this month, the Indigenous Initiatives Office (IIO) at U of T Law hosted the inaugural Medicine Garden harvest. 

With assistance from the Indigenous Law Students Association (ILSA), this special event brought together members of the U of T Law community to braid sweetgrass, and harvest sage and tobacco.

Jennifer Stellar, an assistant professor in the department of psychology at the University of Toronto Mississauga, specializes in studying “prosocial” emotions such as compassion, gratitude and awe, and her research suggests these feelings do in fact contribute to one’s own well-being.
