U of T Law congratulates recipients of the 2023 Canadian General Counsel Awards, recognizing Canada's top in-house lawyers.

The awards were presented June 12 at the Royal York hotel in Toronto. The U of T Law alumni who were recognized, include: 

Marisa Wyse (JD 2005), Chief Legal and Regulatory Officer and Corporate Secretary at Rogers received the Canadian General Counsel of the Year Award.

On June 30, 2023, her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, announced 85 new appointments to the Order of Canada.

The Faculty of Law congratulates three alumni on their appointments. Named an Officer of the Order of Canada: 

The Honourable Robert James Sharpe, O.C. (LLB 1970)

Sharpe was named an Officer "for his distinguished contributions to the advancement of law in Canada as both a judge and academic."
