Two 2011 IHRP interns to clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2013

The IHRP is pleased to report that two of our 2011 IHRP interns will be clerking at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2013.  Louis Century, who interned for the Banda defence team at the International Criminal Court, will be clerking for the Honourable Madam Justice Deschamps.  Before law school, he interned for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Kenya.  Kate Robertson, who interned at the International Centre for Transitional Justice (ICTJ), will be clerking for the Honourable Madam Justice

Success and Serendipity event

(Feb. 23, 2012) The Internationally Trained Lawyers Program (ITLP) at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law hosted its second annual conference this week, "Success and Serendipity 2012: The Multicultural Leader.”  The event brought together a panel of notable leaders in a variety of professions, including law to discuss the topics of serendipity, culture, leadership and newcomer challenges.

After the close of the International Human Rights Program's "Transformative Human Rights" exhibit, which marked the program's 25th anniversary, the IHRP has set up an online exhibit tracing the evolution of human rights over the last 25 years and the distribution of IHRP interns across the globe during that time.

Yesterday, March 13, the Mexican Senate passed a key constitutional reform related to protection of journalists and freedom of expression.  The legal reform was recommended by the IHRP in our clinic report
