Who owns animals after they break free and taste freedom?

The recent case of 43 lab monkeys who escaped from a lab in South Carolina, raises many important ethical questions.

To help answer these complex questions, author and Psychology Today writer Marc Bekoff interviews Professor Angela Fernandez.

Fernandez applies a style of legal history known as "legal archaeology."

Bekoff is a professor emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder, who researches animal behavior, animal emotions (cognitive ethology), compassionate conservation and animal protection.
