Visiting scholar Adam Dodek, who is co-organizer of the conference Judicial Independence in Canada and the World (Nov. 29-30), has written two commentaries this week on questions that are related to the conference's subject matter.

In the National Post, Dodek writes about the legacy of former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada Antonio Lamer, who died just before the conference, dubbing him "Charter Chief" for his work with the Charter of Rights ("Antonio Lamer: Charter Chief," November 27, 2007).

In Law Times, Dodek writes about what the legal aspects of the current crisis in Pakistan can tell us about the importance of judicial independence in a constitutional state ("Connecting Pakistan to Canada: constitutions matter," November 26, 2007).
