A newly established academic award at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law will honour the memory of alumnus and adjunct lecturer, Craig Carter (BSc 1974 UC, LLB 1977).

U of T startup Blue J, co-founded by U of T Law professors, raises $9M Series B funding

Creating the future of legal analysis, U of T startup Blue J raised US $9M Series B funding to accelerate the development and adoption of the company’s flagship tax analysis platform. The round was led by Generation Ventures and includes participation from returning investors Relay Ventures, Mistral Venture Partners and LDV Partners.

The Honourable David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, announced Aug. 6, the appointment of alumna Monica Biringer (LLB 1985), a Judge of the Tax Court of Canada.

Justice Biringer was born in Toronto and educated at the University of Toronto Schools, Queen’s University, and the University of Toronto Law School. She was called to the Ontario bar in 1986.

Alumnus R. Philip Campbell (LLB 1982) appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario.

The Honourable David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, announced Aug. 6, the appointment of alumnus R. Philip Campbell (LLB 1982), a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario.

Campbell was raised in the Atlantic Provinces. He graduated from Mount Allison University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1979 and from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 1982. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1984.

David Dyzenhaus named Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy

University Professor of law and philosophy, David Dyzenhaus, has been named a Corresponding Fellow of the British Academy, the highest honour the Academy confers on non-UK residents in recognition of scholarly distinction in the humanities and social sciences.
