U of T Law welcomes 232 first-year JD students!

Since 2015, U of T Law has conducted a self-reporting diversity survey to help inform the Faculty's services and programs.

This year, 2,607 prospective students applied for Fall 2024 admission to the JD program (up from 2,281 applicants in 2023). Women comprise the class majority at 56%.

Of the new JD students, 83% are the first in their family to attend law school, with nearly 36% born outside of Canada, and 67% of students' parents/guardians also born outside of Canada.

Students who study at U of T Law can also complete a second, graduate-level degree in another discipline which complements their JD legal education. Combined programs of study include: 

  • Business (MBA)
  • Criminology (MA)
  • Economics (MA)

Of the class, 15% have previously completed graduate-level education.
