Liam Turnbull

Faculty of Law graduate Liam Turnbull (JD 2022) has been awarded the 2023 John Peters Humphrey Fellowship.

The Canadian Council on International Law awards up to three John Peters Humphrey Student Fellowships in the areas of international human rights law or international organizations each year.

Liam has been heavily involved and driven to learn how international human rights, such as the right to housing and health care, could be safeguarded both domestically and internationally during his time at U of T Law.

With the support of the fellowship, he will pursue his Masters of Laws (LLM) at the University College London to delve into potential remedies for the injustices and social and economic rights breaches that affect migrants and Indigenous peoples globally.

"As an LLM student, I want to unpack the disparities and social and economic rights violations facing migrants and Indigenous peoples worldwide by contributing to legal scholarship," says Turnbull.
