Keir Wilmut, a third year University of Toronto law student, is one of the five finalists in the competition The Next Great Prime Minister, which will be broadcast on Saturday, February 4 at 8 pm on CTV. The competitors will be judged by four former Prime Ministers of Canada (Joe Clark, John Turner, Brian Mulroney and Kim Campbell).

The finalists were chosen from hundreds of young Canadians who were invited to send in videotaped speeches on what they would do if they became prime minister. The competition, sponsored by businessman Frank Stronach, has been running for several years, but this is the first year it has been televised. U of T law students have traditionally fared well in the competition. In 2002, Robin Rix won the contest and in 2000, law student Richard Meloff took top honours.

The event and its contestants were described in stories in the Globe and Mail and the Toronto Sun on January 31, 2006.
