The Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario has found that the Province  discriminated against refugees by not allowing experienced drivers from war-torn countries exemptions to the one-year waiting period before their final driving tests — an option available to other newcomers in Ontario as well as refugees in other provinces.

In just two weeks, more than 15,000 University of Toronto students will graduate at a convocation ceremony unlike any other in the university’s 193-year history.

The “virtual” proceedings – necessary because of public health rules preventing large gatherings during the pandemic – will be viewed on laptops, smartphones and other devices as graduating students, families and friends tune in from the safety of their homes around the world.

The Canadian Bar Association’s Fellowship Committee has selected Faculty of Law doctoral candidate Léa Brière-Godbout for the 2020-21 Viscount Bennett Fellowship for her graduate legal studies. The Viscount Bennett Fellowship carries a value of $25,000

Brière-Godbout's research is on equality and the way we define discrimination. Her thesis will “paint picture of (the) current persuasive legal potential” of arguments under s. 15 of the Charter.
