Sameer Ashar has been a Clinical Professor of Law at the University of California, Irvine School of Law since 2011, apart from a stint at UCLA from 2018 to 2020 as Professor of Law and Vice Dean for Experiential Education. He has founded numerous clinics, including the Workers, Law, and Organizing Clinic in 2021 and the Immigrant Rights Clinic in 2011. Ashar represents immigrant workers and social movement organizations in clinical legal practice. He writes on law and social movements, the political economy of immigrant labor, the legal profession, and legal education, most recently in Yale Law Journal Forum and Stanford Law Review.
