'Student support & financial aid' among students' top reasons to attend U of T Law

At U of T Law, we believe that tomorrow's lawyers and leaders should reflect the communities they serve across the country and around the globe. For Canada to benefit from inquisitive and creative graduates, our law schools must encourage and support diversity in thinking, backgrounds and experiences. That’s how we continue to push beyond societal barriers and challenge the status quo.

Dedicated to accessible excellence, we attract the best students, regardless of means, to study at Canada's premier law school. It’s a commitment shared by the University of Toronto. The Boundless Promise matching program went above and beyond what the Faculty already commits to student financial aid annually, ensuring top students are able to attend one of the world's best universities.

With profound gratitude to our alumni and friends who shared our commitment to Excellence without Barriers, U of T Law has exhausted the entire eligible matching portion from U of T for student financial aid.

Together, with generous support from our donors, we received more than $18.5 million in Boundless Promise matching funds for student financial aid and raised an additional $2 million—having a life-changing impact on our students. Financial aid is a vital support, helping students focus on their studies and allowing them to take advantage of every opportunity offered by the Faculty's programs and in-house legal clinics.

Supporting student financial aid remains our top priority as we remain more committed than ever before to inclusive excellence and educating the lawyers and leaders for today's rapidly changing world.

In 2022-2023, our wonderful donor community contributed to another unprecedented year of support for our students. With more than $5 million distributed in financial aid—of which over $2 million was donor funded—we are able to help more students study at our Faculty than ever before. We also granted 90 fellowships to first-year students to engage in a meaningful experiential learning opportunity thanks to the support of our donors.

Donor generosity is transformative for both our students and the Faculty—together, we aim to Defy Gravity
