Of the three Canadian teams to advance to the International Rounds this year, U of T Law made it the farthest in the competition, finishing as Octo-Finalists in the top 16 teams worldwide.
The team emerged undefeated from the Preliminary Rounds as the eighth-ranked team in the world, having defeated competitors from China, Egypt, Mexico, and New Zealand.
In the Round of 32, the team defeated Harvard Law School to advance to the Round of 16, where they competed against a very strong team from Australia, the University of Queensland Law School.
Congratulations to the mooters and their coaches, alumni Misha Boutilier (JD 2018), counsel to the Chief Justice of Ontario at the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and Daniel Sisgoreo (JD 2019), a litigation associate at Quinn Emanuel’s New York office.
The team also extends their gratitude to the 3L student coaches and 2024 Jessup alumni, third-year JD students, Vidit Desai, Arik Portnov and Eyal Wilk, as well as the practitioners, scholars and alumni who generously provided feedback during their preparation for both the Canadian and International Rounds of competition.
