The Climate Change and Sustainability case simulation is a two-hour session where you will have the opportunity to lead an organization through a critical re-imagining of their climate policy. You will be the legal team that guides the executives in the creation of a strategy best suited to the sustainability and revenue growth demands of the current market. You will need to take into account the corporate, environmental, securities, and public relations demands of your strategy.

Manifest Climate, led by leadership team that includes Laura Zizzo, Adam Rochwerg, and Peter Richardson, is a legal consulting firm that makes climate change solutions accessible across industries and helps organizations manage climate risk. They are a multi-disciplinary team of lawyers, engineers, and financial professionals who are among the global leaders in climate leadership. This simulation emulates the work they do on a daily basis, and puts students in position to take on a leadership role in climate advocacy.

The session will start with a short introduction on the impact of climate change to businesses around the world, before diving into the case study. The case study will focus on risks and opportunities for a company as it navigates its way through the climate crisis: What areas of the business should it focus on? What new developments in its industry are of most concern? How should it think about communicating its message on climate directly? We'll use the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) as our guide. Conceived as a way to bring transparency to capital markets, the TCFD provides a framework to help companies, and our participants, identify, manage and disclose climate-related risks and opportunities. Our session will include two discussion opportunities, with plenty of time for feedback, questions, and perhaps a curveball. Whether you intend to work at a firm, in-house, government, or providing legal advice in any capacity, this is a fantastic opportunity to build your substantive skillset.
