Prof. Anita Anand, who holds the J.R. Kimber Chair in Investor Protection and Corporate Governance, has been awarded the Yvan Allaire Medal by the Royal Society of Canada.
The Yvan Allaire Medal is awarded for an outstanding contribution in the governance of private and public organisations. The Institute for Governance of Private and Public Organisations in partnership with the RSC established the Yvan Allaire medal to promote healthy governance practices in public and private organizations of all sizes.
The citation for the award states:
"Anita Anand, Faculty of Law, University of Toronto, is one of the world’s leading scholars of corporate governance. Professor Anand’s foundational research has significantly altered global thinking about best practices for boards of directors, including the importance of diversity on boards. She has identified gaps in the law that undermine investors’ interests and has proposed effective solutions to ensure that their rights are protected. As the author of multiple groundbreaking publications relating to governance, she is a worthy recipient of this medal."
Many of this year's Award Winners will be celebrated during the Awards Ceremony on Friday, November 22, 2019 at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa.
