Warm wishes U of T Law logo and snowflakes

Dean's Message

Dear U of T Law community,

Our law school is a place of encounter—between extraordinary people, ideas, and the world. It is this coming together that makes the University of Toronto Faculty of Law what it is: an intellectual home as well as a global force.

We are proud to be commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of the modern law school at the University of Toronto. The founding vision of academic legal study firmly established our distinctive scholarly ethos. Rigorous, analytical, critical, cross-category and cross-disciplinary thinking fuels our approach, undergirded by a commitment to inclusive excellence and a strong sense of community. This approach has proven to be an enduring key to our success and resonates in the engaged support of our alumni, donors and friends, our dedicated volunteers and the professional achievements of our graduates.

I invite you to join us next term, as we continue to celebrate the Faculty’s 75th anniversary into 2025. At our second Law in a Changing World conference, March 27 & 28, current faculty members will engage the conference theme “looking forward by looking back,” reflecting on pivotal contributions to scholarship and legal development over seven decades.

May the coming year bring personal fulfillment, joy and intellectual growth for you all.

With warm wishes this season,

Jutta Brunnée
Dean, University Professor and James Marshall Tory Dean’s Chair
