The JD/MSW Combined Program networking event was designed to support and promote the intersections of law and social work. The event took place on February 5, 2024, at the Faculty of Law, and brought together graduates of the JD/MSW Combined Program, alumni, past chairs, current students, and friends of the program for an evening of networking, updates, and celebration.
One of the event's highlights was the keynote address delivered by alumna Justice Andrea Himel (LLB/MSW 1998), Superior Court of Justice (Family Branch). Justice Himel, an influential figure in the field, shared insights from her career and the importance of combining legal and social work training in making a difference in the lives of individuals and families.
Attendees had the opportunity to connect with fellow alumni, share experiences, and explore collaborations. The event provided a platform to discuss emerging issues at the intersection of law and social work, such as family law, mental health law, social justice, and advocacy. It also served as a forum to learn about recent achievements and developments within the program.
The event was sponsored by the Factor-Inwentash Faculty Chair in Law and Social Work, Professor Michael Saini.
The JD/MSW Combined Program networking event was a resounding success, reinforcing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the impact of dual-degree programs in shaping the future of both the legal and social work professions.
