U of T Law maintains its position as the top-ranked law school in Canada and among the top 25 globally, in Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings by Subject 2025

For its annual subject rankings, Times Higher Education uses a refined version of the methodology for its flagship World University Rankings, drawing on 18 indicators grouped into five core pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. The methodology is adjusted for each subject by considering field-specific research cultures and publication practices.

The University of Toronto ranked first in Canada in all 11 subjects tracked by Times Higher Education – and is one of only six universities in the world to rank in the top 30 across the board.

The 2025 subject rankings included 389 institutions, up from 329 in the 2024 rankings, evaluating institutions "from 48 countries and territories using 18 rigorous performance indicators, carefully tailored to reflect the distinctive qualities within the academic discipline of law across the world."
