Emily Squire Orchard, Assistant Dean, Graduate Programs, has been named an Exemplary U of T Ambassador.
Established in 2022, the EUTA Awards are an institutional awards program celebrating staff and librarians who have furthered the strategic priorities of their unit, department, faculty, or division, and have made a significant, positive impact on the university. The recipients have also demonstrated one or more of the University’s Institutional Competencies: leadership; equity, diversity, and inclusion; collaboration; stewardship; and innovation & excellence.
Emily is being recognized for her leadership at the Faculty of Law, helping build a more inclusive law school at U of T. She serves as an engaged member of the Faculty’s Mental Health & Wellness Committee and the Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity, and Accessibility Committee.
“Emily is an exemplary leader, and indeed, ambassador for U of T and the law school, having served here in many capacities and leading our graduate programs office since late 2016,” says University Professor Jutta Brunnée, Dean of the Faculty of Law and James Marshall Tory Dean’s Chair. “It is wonderful the university has chosen to recognize her leadership and work towards cultivating a law school where all are welcome.”
The Awards celebrate both individuals and project teams/groups who support the University’s mission through their outstanding contributions and daily work.
Pro Bono Students Canada’s national team, a non-profit organization founded by and housed at the Faculty of Law, also received recognition for their teamwork in connecting law student volunteers with community organizations to improve access to justice. The winning team members are Jeanne E.P. Arbez, Carolina Cuevas, Jason Goodman, Dana Rotenberg (National Dreictor), Amy Tang, and Charlee Tolliver.
