Annette Paul is an experienced fundraising and development executive with 25+ years of experience in the not-for-profit and charitable sectors, particularly in the areas of capital campaigns, major and principal gifts, annual and leadership giving, alumni engagement, strategic engagement, and stakeholder relations.
Prior to rejoining the University of Toronto in August 2024, Annette served as Executive Director, Advancement at Havergal College where she conceptualized and directed the rebuilding of the advancement function including personnel, programs and processes, closed a number of key gifts across disciplines, and led the launch of a capital campaign for girls’ athletics. During her previous tenure at U of T, Annette held the position of Director, Advancement at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health where she raised over $75M for areas such as global health, health policy and systems, vaccine preventable diseases and maternal and child health. She also co-chaired two university-level committees, namely on donor stewardship and equity, diversity, and inclusion in advancement. Additionally, Annette held progressive leadership roles at the School of Business at Queen's University, Queen's University Alma Mater Society, United Way, Youth Employment Service, the YMCA of Greater Toronto and Daily Bread Food Bank.
Annette has held volunteer governance roles at Queen's University as well as with the Association of Fundraising Professionals and with community organizations. She holds an undergraduate degree and a Master in Public Administration, both from Queen's University, and is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE).
