Adjunct Professor

Jacob Yau, B.Sc (Electrical Engineering, Queen’s University) 2007, J.D. (Osgoode Hall) 2015, was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2016. He is a partner at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP in Toronto, where he practices tax law with a focus on tax litigation. He has argued before the Tax Court of Canada, Federal Court, Federal Court of Appeal, and the Ontario Superior Court (Commercial List). He also advises both domestic and international clients on corporate tax, tax planning, M&A, business structuring, and reorganizations. Jacob is an active speaker and writer and a current Practice Group Leader of the Advocates’ Society’s Tax Litigation Practice Group, and editor of Federated Press’ International Tax Planning. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the International Fiscal Association, the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers.
