Our inaugural speaker, Professor and Dean Emeritus the Honourable Frank Iacobucci, will explore the significance of preamble in tax law, animated by the example of the new preamble to the General Anti-Avoidance Rule (GAAR) and its potential impact on statutory interpretation and jurisprudence. This special lecture and discussion, “The New GAAR and its Preamble,” will be moderated by U of T Law Professor and Osler Chair in Business Law, Benjamin Alarie (JD MA 2002).

Please note that a reception with light refreshments will be held in the Atrium at 6:00 p.m. and the talk will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.
