John A. Tory Lecture: "The New GAAR and its Preamble" with the Hon. Frank Iacobucci and Prof. Ben Alarie

We are pleased to invite you to the annual John A. Tory Lecture at the Faculty of Law, presented with the generous support of the Tory family

Our inaugural speaker, Professor and Dean Emeritus the Honourable Frank Iacobucci, will explore the significance of preamble in tax law, animated by the example of the new preamble to the General Anti-Avoidance Rule (GAAR) and its potential impact on statutory interpretation and jurisprudence. This special lecture and discussion, “The New GAAR and its Preamble,” will be moderated by U of T Law Professor and Osler Chair in Business Law, Benjamin Alarie (JD MA 2002).
