Join the International Human Rights Program at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law for an engaging discussion with renowned immigration and refugee lawyer Barbara Jackman (LLB 1976). Regarded by many as Canada’s foremost international human rights lawyer, Jackman has spent decades defending the rights of refugees, migrants, and other marginalized communities. She has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada in numerous landmark cases and is widely recognized for her expertise in immigration and constitutional law. In this talk, she will explore the urgent issue of climate refugees and Canada's inaction in addressing their needs. She will discuss the legal and ethical responsibilities Canada must uphold and what a just and effective response should look like.
